I recently played through the PC version, a underrated classic imho ,I also dm'ed Monte Cook version that put me off D&D for years!

Yeah, I remember T2 going promised each year for a few years after T1 was released. It was good when it finally came out in the form of T1-4. I never got to play or run T1-4 though, I'd moved on from AD&D by then...
