I have been making quite a few encounter maps lately and/or heavily modifying existing maps that I had found on the internet. Some of them are just cropped versions of much larger maps now made suitable for FG2 encounters. Others are maps I created but most of them are very simple so don't expect great masterpieces since I'm a Photoshop newb and have little to no artistic talent! :D

Not trying to step on any toes so sorry if I tweaked a map you made, I'm not trying to claim credit for anything just sharing with the community.

I figured maybe some of you guys could use them too (can never have enough encounter maps right?)

I run a Dark Sun campaign and as such most of the exterior maps involve terrains from arid climate backdrops like sand/scrubland/canyons/rocky badlands, etc. However, there are also quite a few underground/cave/ruins maps as well as city maps which I don't tend to alter too much.

Anyway, hope someone out there finds these helpful, I'll keep this thread going as I make more.

ho-ho, check out all the maps! Nice! And very well done. I see a magical portal leading to Calimshan (https://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Calim_Desert) in my campaign's future.

Another encounter map i made in Photoshop playing around with height maps.

I've attached a 2000x2000 version as well as a 4096x4096 version in case someone wants to crop it to use just a portion.

I used the excellent height map tutorial (https://www.cartographersguild.com/tutorials-how/16688-bumpmaps-photoshop-quick-guide.html) by Pasis to do this as well as his sample height maps (https://www.cartographersguild.com/mapping-elements/16680-heightmaps.html)

I think it came out looking pretty amazing.

Thanks, that one I just took a map I had and threw on some overlay tokens of blood and other mayhem inside FG2 and took a screenshot =)

Same map but with hills covered in green foliage and a cobblestone road for those of you not predisposed to arid landscapes like I am =)

I made this in Photoshop CS6 by taking an internet stock photo of a canyon in a block of cheese (i know right?) and creating a height map out of it in a program called CrazyBump (free demo) and tweaked it in Photoshop.

I then used a desert texture on top in Multiply blend mode as per Pasis' great bumpmap tutorial (https://www.cartographersguild.com/tutorials-how/16688-bumpmaps-photoshop-quick-guide.html) and added some rocks and vegetation.

I feel like it came out pretty nicely, not 100% happy with the rocks I need to find a better way to do them realistically without using objects that looks too obvious.

Here's a grassy version with trees for those of you not predisposed to arid terrains like I am.

The Desert canyon 3 is gorgeous. These would be great for the PF AP set in Osirion.
