Hello,

I recently downloaded FG to make a mighty come back in RPGs with far away friends, and I'm very happy to have chosen this application. Thanks a lot for developing it!

Something I noticed missing and could could greatly improve FG is the lack of any kind of multimedia support (sound effects, music, videos, etc.).

I searched the forum and I saw something similar to what I had in mind:
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15250

Basically what I had in mind is:
- GM chooses the sounds to be used in the campaign.
- When players log in the campaign, all sounds are downloaded/synced (similar to the Preload image function).
- The GM will have an extra available option to control the sounds in all players computers.

Would obviously be nice to have to controls, one for BG music and another one for sound effects. I can live without videos, but I read that some people would definitely use them. As for the uploading/downloading times, I guess it would depend on the GM/Players agreement. The same would happen if a lot of huge images are sent over.

There are alternatives for this, but I think what makes FG stronger than the other VTT apps is the fact that it's all integrated in the same place. Audio would fulfill the prophecies :)

Hope you are able to include it!

It might be a nice feature. But, to be honest, you can do audio and sound effects through a voice channel like Teamspeak, Skype, etc.. Stuff like this has been mentioned a few times before but doesn't really gain much traction because there are already solutions available to do this - OK, it is not in FG, but a lot of people already run external voice comms and adding in music and SFX to those is not much of an issue.

Also there are GMs who struggle with upload bandwidth just for a few MB of the campaign and maps/images - adding on top of this the multiple MB of music and SFX that would need to be uploaded to each player would strain their connections to the limit.

but, having said all that, why not go ahead and add it to the FG wishlist so that others can vote for it and see who would want functionality such as this: https://fg2app.idea.informer.com/

I recently started using MorphVOX Pro. This program allows you to upload sound effects, music, and to make voice alterations. Its handy and works very well. It doesn't take much to find a good collection of sound effects or to record your own. The program uses .wav and .mp3 files, but I don't know if it uses others. I know for certain that it won't play .flac.

I especially enjoy creating morphs for character voices and monsters. It has a large list of premade voices, but its very easy to create your own.

I use MorphVOX Pro as well - I use it in realtime when playing Fantasy Grounds, we use the community provided (free) Teamspeak3 server for voice communications: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17071

This allows you to speak as normal and MorphVOX Pro changes your voice before sending it to the Teamspeak3 server without delays (or any other voice client/server) so you can react to what the players do - no need to do a bunch of pre-recorded phrases (unless you really want to).

Hey guys,

Thanks for the quick response. Never tried MorphVOX Pro, I'll give it a check tonight - it looks promising.

I just uploaded this idea to the wishlist as well.

I have, from time to time, wanted the ability to play sound via FG. I think the idea of adding a FX to a token and playing it when a player attacks is a cool idea. I have tried Soundboard with TeamSpeak - it is a good start but very limited. DJ Streamer from Screaming Bee is a bit less expensive (and complex) to add music and FX to games. https://www.screamingbee.com/product/products.aspx

You can setup a playlist and have it run the entire playlist.
You can control the volume of the audio independent of your mic - so make music loud or soft depending upon what's going on.

I use Screaming Bee MorphVOX but haven't tried this. One question, I can't see this mentioned on the product page, can you hear the music/SFX being played as well or just the people who can hear your channel? It's important for me to hear the audio in the same timeframe as the players - so that I can time dramatic events to the music/SFX. And, it's nice to hear the music too! :-)

I use MorphVOX Pro as well. My players love it! It really puts a new spin on the game with all those voices for NPC's, monsters, etc.
