My son is *really* wanting me to run a Star Wars RPG. He's very enamored with the Knights of the Old Republic video games, which appear to be based on the WotC rpg books. He also has a few of those books from the 2003 era - looks very d20-based.
My situation is this: I definitely enjoy Star Wars and am reasonably familiar with that universe, but am not a die hard fanatic. I've seen the movies and played the video games, but haven't read any books or comics. So while I can see the SW universe is a fun one, I don't feel particularly compelled or even capable of coming up with a lot of adventures or game content. Also, I already have 2 campaigns running, and I don't know that I can keep up with a third if there is a lot of prep work involved. I'm not even sure if I'd run it with FG or not. OK, well, who am I kidding, of course I will, at least as far as a game-tracking/management system goes if nothing else.
So what I'd love some feedback on is whether you think it'd be better to stick with the d20 older rules (which I am reasonably familiar with) or look into one of the other systems (I'm not into that d6 system, FWIW). Perhaps just as important: what is there out there in terms of pre-made game content, modules, campaigns, etc.? Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with that content? And which game system is it for?
My thinking is that if I can find a game system that I'm reasonably familiar with and has a lot of modules & content, I might be able to run that for him without a ton of prep work.
Any thoughts would be most appreciated!
