View Full Version : Map Window Size - First CC3 Map Too Large?

So I created my first map in CC3 today. It's for M&M, it's an area outside of a bar/restaurant that my main superhero NPC owns (Greener Pastures, owned by Swagger). Several battles have been held outside on the streets and on top of the buildings, so I wanted to recreate this map first as I know I'll use it again.
Anyway, I put the map into the appropriate folder and brought it up in my campaign. Unfortunately the map, when scrolled all the way out, does not fit into the square box. Please see the map (.jpg) and screen shot from within FG below.
Is this due to resolution of the map (it's only 168.1 KB...)? I was hoping I could re-size the map window in FG to fit but it's limited to this size square and no larger.
Thanks,

You might need to resize the window to a rectangle of roughly the same proportions as your image, then zoom out.
The FGII image control can be a little odd like that - normally images open up in the right aspect ratio though, but after resizing it tends to remember the size, so it's hard to reset back to "see all".

Hmm...seems I now can't re-size it any more - it's stuck on the screen I supplied the screen shot for.

So....I removed the image from the folder on my PC. Then I tried to delete the image from the campaign (FG2 was open the whole time)- but it crashed the program. I reopened it, and the image was gone. I replaced it, opened it in FG2, and it's still the same size it was initially. Not sure what to do here now.

Once the image is open in FG, zoom all the way out (use the mouse scroll wheel to do this).
If the image is not a square (which it looks like it from your screen shots) you can pan left-right by left-clicking on the "scroller" gadget (the gold icon in the bottom right corner of the image) and moving the mouse left or right.
To show the full image in the window, you will need to resize the window to be a rectangle like the image itself. It can be a bit fiddly - you'll find you have to resize, pan left-right/up-down to check if you have resized it correctly to get all (or most of) the image in the window.
The maximum size of the image window is set in the ruleset (X-Y pixels). I'm not sure what the M&M ruleset is set for - some of the original rulesets were 500x500, which it looks like this one may be from your screenshots. The 3.5E and 4E rulesets are now 2048x2048 - larger than most people's screens.

Thank you, Trenloe - but unfortunately I can't re-size the window any more for some reason. Not manually at least, wont' give me anything to grab onto. Is there a command I can run to reset it to the original size so I can start again?
Thanks,

Press and hold CTRL on your keyboard, left-click within the image you want to resize and drag your mouse to resize.

There's no command that I'm aware of to do this. To reset ALL windows within your campaign, go into the campaign directory and delete "CampaignRegistry.lua" - best to do this when FG is not running, as you've seen removing files from the campaign directory while FG is running can cause crashes (or other issues).

Press and hold CTRL on your keyboard, left-click within the image you want to resize and drag your mouse to resize.
That did it - somehow I missed this command option for the CTRL key. Thank you!!!

there are some commands that are just not at all intuitive initially...
