Looks like I got some work to do in getting it FRP compatible.

Is 1.4 for the new RM or for RMC?

Dakadin
December 11th, 2012, 04:19
It will be an update for RMC. The documentation still needs to be completed. I think I've taken care of the bugs but they are good at hiding sometimes. It's running well now but I would like just a bit more time to test it.

Gotta be the Longest Drum Roll EVER!

Dakadin

LOL. That is why I didn't start it. Everything still needs to be documented.

:o I do realise some people's hands and ears are getting sore. Sorry folks. It was a little (a very little) premature. But trust me that it is worth every sprained wrist and broken drumstick.

(From now on I'll just keep my big mouth shut)

Its been a while since I've tried to run RMC. I bought the 1.2, and d/l the 1.3 but never ran it.

Will 1.4 have all the tables for weapons and spells in it, or will I still have to enter those myself?

Tiqon
December 28th, 2012, 06:23
I bought it when it was 1.3. Erhm all the tables are there if I understand you correct (im having a hard time figuring out what you miss as I did not try earlier than 1.3). I don't know how much I can give away here about what is in 1.4 but there will be added some more tables, not from the 3 core books, that much I dare to say ;) *waiting for Dakadins wrath to hit me*. Attack tables, crit tables for all weapons and spells, Movement tables. Hmm and spells you can drag/click to open from spellbook where they are organised.

Was there something you missed beside that?

JohnD
December 28th, 2012, 06:30
v1.2 has the base Arms Law and Spell Law tables for weapons and spells... unless I've misunderstood what you're saying. Later version (to be released TBD) includes some extra tables from The Armory I think it's called.

Which tables were you referring to?

RMC v1.2 has all the tables from Arms Law and Spell Law. RMC v1.3 adds a few missing tables like the Base Spell Attack Table, the Resistance Roll Table, and a couple missing creature tables from Arms Law. RMC v1.4 doesn't add any additional tables but I have been testing the weapons and attacks from Rolemaster Fantasy Weapons and The Armoury.

RMC doesn't include any of the content from the Rolemaster Companions. I've done some initial testing for Rolemaster Companion 1 but I haven't had time to do any more than that at this point.

Please let me know if you would like to see something added.

Hmm... I just recall that when someone rolled a crit, the results did not pop up. We had to enter the crit tables. It was at that point I became less interested.

Dakadin
January 2nd, 2013, 04:38
For the attacks in the RMC ruleset, you just have to right-click the result of the attack and the critical or fumble table will open in the lower portion of the screen. Then you have the PC roll 1d100 and drag the result to the critical or fumble table. It really is one of the best parts of the RMC. I've added the ability to drag tables from the table list to the Table Resolver so it is easier to resolve the odd attacks or criticals.

Give it a try and let us know if you have any questions. ;)

Is there a list of 1.4 updates anywhere yet?

Dakadin
January 2nd, 2013, 06:15
Unfortunately, not yet but they will be included with the ruleset. One highlight that I want to mention is the new graphics Raymond Gaustadnes put together for it.

Ouch! Luckily even though you shoved them all the way inside there was NOTHING to damage!

At least it was just the nose... there are worse locations.

And 1.4.x is a nice step forward... excellent work when it does become available.

I did think of other locations, but what little sense of web etiquette kicked in and so this remains a child friendly site after all

Drum roll nearly complete... but still going on.

I just posted this to the updater engine under Dev mode but found that we have a problem either in the updater or the patch tool. I would recommend that you set your settings to Live mode only until we can work out the kinks. Basically, there is a filesize getting appended to the end of every file downloaded through the updater which causes every script file to fire an error message for improper syntax and for xml to not be accurate either.

Once we get this sorted, we'll toggle it to Test mode so people can test it out. After it's been out for about a week or so in Test mode without any major issues, we'll toggle it to Live mode. We don't want to impact anyone's existing campaigns and since this is the first time this product has been linked to the updater, the only recourse after downloading a bad test ruleset is to remove it and reinstall the old version. Once we get the updater corrected for RMC, it should make future updates much smoother and faster to deliver.

Sorry for the additional delay. The update tool is all straightened out now and the updated RMC ruleset should be available if you switch to Test mode.

Note, the only way back after trying out the test version is to re-install the original ruleset from your store purchase.

To test out the new version
1. Launch FG and select Settings
2. Enter your forum user ID in the username box and press Update on the Settings screen.
3. Enter your password
4. You should see DGA080 in the list of products, among others
5. Set the Mode to Test
6. Hit Okay to save it and return to the previous FG screen
7. Click Update and watch the screen to see that Rolemaster files start scrolling by
8. Load an RMC campaign or start a new one

Next week, if no breaking bugs are reported, we'll switch it over to Live mode and it should get picked up by everyone who has their account entered into their settings.

Thanks Doug. I just tested it using the updater and everything looks good so far.

Ardem
January 18th, 2013, 04:10
Is this GM side only, will the Clients need to be in test mode as well? Or will it not dl any FG beta files?

ddavison
January 18th, 2013, 04:23
If your GM switches to Test mode and downloads the updated files, it should automatically update the campaign for you when you connect next. You may find that it takes longer to connect for the first time as it downloads what you need to play.

Now that, is a thing of beauty right there. I really need to find time to get back into a regular game with this ruleset.
