I was wondering if people wanted to post the play times when they are available? And also the scenarios that they have played. This may highlight times when i can run scenarios for players, especially players who have missed out so far.It would be particularly easy to rerun scenarios I have already built. I can't promise anything, as really it depends when i am free, but it might show up some opportunities to run games.

We tried to do this on the yahoo site.. but it ended up with a bunch of relatively disjointed and useless info... perhaps if we ask for clearer info to start... we can take away better data.
I've seen game schedulers (like on pen and pencil) where where they listed out the days and folks checked off which hours in the day they were available...
Hmm... without that tool.. it would still be good to get that sort of info.
BF's Info.
Monday.. sometimes available to run and play in low tier (1-2) games from 5-10 Eastern Time.
Tuesday.. available to play and run in multi-tier games (1-5) from 4-12 Eastern.
Wedsday.. occasionally available to play or run tier 4-5 games from 5-11.
Thursday.. unavailable
Friday.. available to run and play in multi-tier games (1-5) from 4-12 Eastern.
Saturday.. available to run and play in multi-tier games (1-5) from 9am-12pm Eastern.
Sunday.. available to run and play in multi-tier games (1-5) from 1-5pm Eastern.

Is that useful data?

Thanks for that. Its better than a poke in the eye hehe. Its helpful as it gives me a general window to aim at
I guess it will always be difficult as peoples schedule change etc. I was just after getting a rough idea.
It would be nice to get some sort of scheduler but as you say, it may be difficult to get it working

My workplace uses Doodle to coordinate meeting times with representatives external to the organization.

https://www.doodle.com/

Apparently there are free use options. I think you could just post the URL to the survey page in a post here.

A game scheduling function via this website would be nice, but you'll still get people who treat their attendance as optional and pull an NCNS.

Personally, my availability would be:

Monday: occasionally from 8 PM - 11 PM Eastern.
Tuesday: not available until January 2013 at the earliest.
Wednesday: not available with any regularity (GMing).
Thursday: not available until January 2013 at the earliest.
Friday: available from 8 PM onwards Eastern.
Saturday: available every 2nd week (more or less) from 8 PM onwards Eastern.
Sunday: not available.

Thanks John. I have noted your play times.
I think something like doodle is a good idea. It would be worth seeing what others think of this?

you dont have to worry about 1802 to JOIN a game - only to host a game.

Absolutely - I'm not sure where you're getting the recommendation to connect as an additional FG instance to create a character.

Refer to this thread here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16961

You don't *need* HeroLab or PCGen to create a character (but they are handy) - you can do it the good old way (manual) and input the character manually.

What type of Fantasy Grounds license do you have? Lite, Full, Ultimate or unlicensed?

Gadreun

I have a full license - i got the idea from watching the video tutorial link in FG downloads called "Creating a new character (4E example)"- i will read the thread - thankyou

haha i just stumbled across the PCGen and have d/l it so i think ill be good now - i must say im impressed and feel "at home" here everyone has been nothing but welcoming and kind and helpful its really appreciated!

I think that is just more to check out the full functionality of the character once it is created - and perhaps run it through some test encounters. That's nice to do, but not essential. With a full license, if you build your character in a campaign you can do most of that as the GM anyway...

If you have any questions, please start a new thread as we shouldn't be cluttering up this thread with unrelated discussions! :)

I normally cannot play on Wednesdays or Sundays due to RL things (work/school and Pathfinder respectively :) ), however most any other time, i can make it if scheduled.

Only game I have played in so far is first steps #1

Thanks for the info - keep 'em coming.
I will do my best to put things on at times that are good for folks as much as possible

I have only played First Steps scenarios so far, so I can only join tiers 1-2 at the moment.

Possible play days are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (subject to confirmation). Play times are always 8pm to 1am Eastern Time (GMT-5).

Assuming I'm interpreting this correctly (particularly the new zealand Tzone).. it would look like the 4 that responded have overlap from 1-6am GMT on Saturday and/or Sunday.
There is some additional overlap.. but those are the times that all 4 hit.

Has eastern standard time had its daylight savings changes? Does it go to +4 gmt at some point or did i dream it?

Blackfoot

We went from +4 to +5 last sunday. (in eastern time that is)

Attached is a comparative schedule for those that have posted thus far.

Thanks for pulling that together Blackfoot. I cant check it over at the moment as i am not at my pc but it will be useful. I will post a game tomorrow. and I will add my times.
The most popular time seems to be around 1am for me. I will run occasional games at this time but it isntsomething I could do often.

Previously sent through my list of chronicles played and as for time, I can make time at any point during the weekend. Latest start time I could do on a Sunday is 1am Monday morning my time (GMT +8).

I can also do any evening except Wednesday (again, evening my time, so early morning eastern time, 12 hour difference).

I know the game I have just posted doesn't match everyone's play times but I have taken notice of when people can play and will run games at those times if I can

Thanks for the game Skellan it was a whole lot of fun - and now we know we can start 4 hours earlier than that in the weekend on the odd occasion and it will suit us all i think? or maybe two hours if i want to sleep in :P

ahah - you got connected ok! did you resolve your inbound 1802 issue at home?

Gadreun
November 10th, 2012, 07:23
oh hey! No once i found out i only need the 1802 for hosting a game and that i can make characters without needing it i haven't worried about it. My flatmates too fussy to let others tamper with it and he practically rebuilt our router connection trying to figure it all out! In the end i advised him i could play without it. I think he was relieved - i advised him of your offer to help but well hes a stickler about his property so i wont bug him about it

Yeah... the port forwarding will only come up if you go to run games. At that point, should it arise, I'm sure someone will be glad to help you sort it out.

Made a character but it feels weird setting the abilities rather than rolling them. Too tempting to min/max ... when you build a rogue dex is so crucial - So you pump up the dex and think right well thats ok i can save lots of ability points for WIS and CHA and INT so that i can do all the negotiating and sens motive and perception when engaging with NPCs and we need vital information and we dont have to pound that out of everyone right?

Then you think yeah that will work because i can be an archer rogue so i dont need to worry about STR and CON. But then you remember back to how you teamed up with your buddy and pulled off all those helpful flanking maneuvers with him. Wait a minute i cant play an archer - id be too removed from the group and letting people down.

So you think, no ill play a melee rogue, one that backs his buds up and gets amongst it to create good flanking opportunities and use all those sneak abilities! But then you think wait im all squishy without decent CON and youll need some STR to pack a bit of a punch!

Oh nooo! now what do i do??? So you end up trying to squeeze the last drop from the 20 point buy so you can be the most effective team member you can and get sucked into the trap of the min maxer.

When you roll your stats a lot of the choice gets taken away but it felt like a simpler time when the fates dished you up a middle of the road average humper who you had to round out with some deft roleplaying to make him 'something special'

Anyway im feeling guilty for squeezing the last drops out of the 20 point buy system to make a character who wont get squished in the front row dodging around trying to create flanking opportunities but still has enough nouse to spot bad guys and traps and actually do something about them and also do at little bit of damage

Don't worry about it - do whatever you want within the PFS guidelines. A lot of players play PFS with lots of PCs with different character build concepts to see what they can squeeze out of builds, and there is a lot of min/maxing around anyway. Go for whatever you want... I just chuckle when a player complains when they're in a situation that nullifies their specialised character... :D

Absolutely - as soon as i run into a swarm of something, a group of wizards or skellies, I definitely wont be feeling special
