My group has recently been toying with the idea of using the kingdom building from PF to drive a sandbox game.
When we looked at the map from the Kingmaker Adventure Path, we thought, "I dunno, I'd like something bigger."
After a quick search for campaign maps online, we found a few, but they weren't exactly right.
Then we took some time to drool over the map porn at the Cartographer's Guild, but even that didn't really feel right for a hex-mapped exploration type game.
As we talked about the kingdom building rules, we kept adding subsystems mimicking the Civilization games, and so it was only a matter of time before the idea of generating a campaign map from a Civ game was raised.
And so, here is a campaign map, generated in about 15 seconds, from Civ 4, using the Worldbuilder Tool.
For those of you not familiar, if you start a game of Civ 4, pressing the Esc key gives you the option to see and modify the entire map, including not only terrain, but also resources, towns, etc.
To give you an idea, I have attached a few images. The first is top down view of the region, the other is more closely zoomed in.
Thoughts?
