I love this program but if I'm DM it's my game.
In the past I have replaced the appropriate file in the program and given my players a custom background. I'd like to make that easier. I'm ok with adapting to the same dimensions as the original but I'd like to be able to put the name of the replacement file into the preferences somewhere and have that become the background. Personally I'm not worried about the rest of the theme.
I see two advantages to this approach:
1) I'd be fine with a small smiteworks logo or some such as long as it wasn't visually dominant - this would be better advertising to happier people. This could be a transparency always in the lower right or some such.
2) It could be made simpler. Have a tournament or want to be ready for a number of modules? Put a number of appropriate pictures in the right directory and cycle through them as the players complete adventures.
Downsides would be that some of the backgrounds people make might look terrible compared to the current ones. Well, they can go back to the defaults.
I know that I can sort of do this now. I'd just like to make it easier.
