Hello Hive Mind,

I am still thinking in buying FG2, as I have problems connecting. I dont know how to configure moden, routers or firewalls. I tryed to follow some tutorials out there but I simple can't understand big part of what they say as my system and modem (router?) are diferent.

I am trying to run FG2 Demo if that matters. Cause I will not buy a software that I can't use.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

My modem (router?) is a Sagemcom F@ast 1704 (I did not instaled it or configured it, I simple use as it came for me). I found some pictures of it here: https://screenshots.portforward.com/Sagem/Fast_1704/

I never instaled a firewall but I have AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012. And there is a Windowns Defender.

I see that there is Windowns Firewall that is active on my Control Painel, but I can't find where is the port information to put the exceptions. In doubt I turned it off on Control Painel.

Can someone give me a hand? I dont even know where to begin! =)

Mateus

The site https://www.pcflank.com says this about my port 1802:

Mateus090985,

If you jump to the unofficial FG chat, (https://fg2.rpg-vault.net/) you can find answers to any technical doubt real quickly: some community members are always willing to help!

Mateus, you probably need to go to the Virtual Servers page of the router configuration and Add a line for Fantasy Grounds, with an internal start and internal end setting of 1802. (Those will be the range of your internal ports that the data coming to your external IP address is forwarded to.)

Just as a reminder - run this test when you have Fantasy Grounds open and you've loaded a campaign as a GM (FG is showing the chat window, dice, etc., etc.). Otherwise the test will always fail as there is nothing listening on port 1802 until Fantasy Grounds is up and running and hosting a campaign.

Ok... I asked a friend to give me a hand and now my ports are configured and my ip is static. But some players can conect and others dont. I tryed one at a time, as FG2 Demo only permit one conection... Suggestions?

Once one player can connect, then you have your settings OK on your side (unless you start to reboot stuff and they get new IP addresses).

I'd double check that your players have the right IP address to connect and also get them to type it into FG, not copy/paste (there have been reports in the past of copy/pasting the IP address resulting in a failed connection).

Right, tonight I will check if this resolves the issue. Thanks for your time.

I never could figure it out but we just tried both and one would usually work for them.

That is strange... thanks for the tip. I will tell how things come.

We could not figure out the firewall stuff so my group now uses a product called Hamachi.

"LogMeIn Hamachi is a hosted VPN service that lets you securely extend LAN-like networks to distributed teams, mobile workers and your gamer friends alike. In minutes."

Look for the freeware version https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/
