Hello Hive Mind,
Well I am thinking in buying FG2 to play online with my friends but first I want to ask some questions.
1) There is some diference beteewn the Full Version and the Ultimate Version except that my players dont have to buy anytihng?
2) I made my maps using ProFantasy Softwares and want to know if I can use then in FG2 and add markers, "fog of war" and links in FG2. By links I mean, for example, a regional map that have a city and when I click on the city the city map "pop up".
3) Does FG2 have some sort of field of view that I can attach to players tokens or I have to manually draw "fog of war"?
4) It's easier to put a server functioning then MapTools? Cause I cant do all the tech stuff that MP ask me to let my players join my game.
5) I use RaidCall to talk to my players. Does FG2 have any "compability" problens with it?
Thanks in advance
Mateus

Hello welcome

Ultimate license is the same as Full with added ability to allow connections from unregistered installations of FGII (i.e. players do not need to buy FGII to connect), in all other respects it is the same as Full.
2) I made my maps using ProFantasy Softwares and want to know if I can use then in FG2 and add markers, "fog of war" and links in FG2. By links I mean, for example, a regional map that have a city and when I click on the city the city map "pop up".
FGII maps are png files or jpg files so the linking from CC3 will not work.
3) Does FG2 have some sort of field of view that I can attach to players tokens or I have to manually draw "fog of war"?
Fog of War is manually drawn by GM
4) It's easier to put a server functioning then MapTools? Cause I cant do all the tech stuff that MP ask me to let my players join my game.
5) I use RaidCall to talk to my players. Does FG2 have any "compability" problens with it?
I cannot answer these questions I as I have not used either of them.
To run FGII as a GM you just need to sort out the port forwarding (there are stickied threads in the help area to talk you through this).
For VOIP I have used both Skype and Mumble without problems in the past, and played on a game where the GM was using Ventrilo.

Thanks for the info =). So if I convert my ProFantasy files to .jpg I can use then on FG and put what I need for the game (like fog of war)?
Does the program allows me to put a different view of a map for each player? For example they are in a dark "dungeon" with torchs and I want that each player only viwes what the light of their torchs allows.
damned

You can stick a pin in the map but it will link to a story entry. That story entry can link to another map - but i dont think you can link image to image without a story in between.

Unless it uses TCP1802 you shoudl be fine. Voice is not a part of FG - everyone uses their own preference, mumble, teamspeak, skype, ventrillo etc...

nope - just a simple top down view + fog of war... just zap em with a lightning bolt if they start metagaming...

You can use a Map Pin to connect an image to an image directly. So yes you can chain regional to sub-regional or dungeon level to dungeon level.
I use RaidCall for voice and have no problems other the occasional RaidCall ones of the server not being up and occasional lag but none of these appear to FG related and RaidCall hasn't been down in a while.
It's hard to say on the MT vs. FG server setup. I've never had a problem with either - but both require you to set up a server, ie you *must* open a port or two and then port forward to the local IP through all your hardware and software firewalls. I think MT is a bit more fiddly (more options) but I have not used it in a while. With FG in the worse case you can use a VPN to connect if you can't resolve your router issues. I believe you can do so with MT as well but probably not with the Web Start version of the server, you'd need the downloaded version.
The best thing to do is try with the demo. If you have connection problems with the demo you'll have the same problems with a full or ultimate license.

You can share a different map with each player for doing something like that (you need different copies of that JPG or PNG file). But I'm not sure if after re-sharing the image/map for re-updating the player's view (you want to do that after zooming or panning) is going to work for achieving your goal, since I remember that the app used this occasion for sharing the image with all the players. (I did a request for this same functionality: separate maps for split parties).
