Let's say I buy the FULL license.

Install it on my portable and link a second screen to it.

#1 Can I show the "player's view" on that second screen while seeing the "DM's stuff" on the first screen?

#2 To give me an insight as to how complex it would be: How would I achieve #1?

(Okay, it's 2 questions... Sue me)

I guess you want all your stuff on your portable and have a screen you show to your players.

The thing is, that you can actually connect to your own campaign by connecting to "localhost". Essentially you need to have Fantasy grounds running twice (one session on each screen). The latter will just log on to your main "gm" session. This will be a normal player log in. It is actually very simple and easy to do, and I do it all the time.

In short: yes you can.

It's very easy to do, actually.

And in any case, you can also jump to the chatroom (https://fg2.rpg-vault.net/) for asking anything.

#1 - Yes.
#2 - It is as easy as dragging the window to the 2nd screen. I do this with a projector for convention games.

To clarify you do want to have 2 instances of FG running. The GM instance loads ( and hosts) the campaign. The second instance (player view) connects to localhost and will show the player view. You drag that second instance to the 2nd monitor.

I believe that is the method that people use to test out rulesets, to view what the player will see.

You can have 2 instances of games running.

I often will jump on one of my players characters when they are not there. I start a 2nd instance of FGII and connect to local host.

the 2nd instance is the player point of view.

The one caution is that it will obviously require a little beefier system to run FG smoothly in two instances. The requirement for FG aren't super high for most of the rulesets, but it may be a problem if you plan to run Rolemaster Classic. That one uses a lot of memory.

Yeah but everytime you do that with MY character you kill him off!

Doesn't sound like a software issue... :p
