Roll for Stats or Point Buy

Just out of curiosity what do people prefer?

Let's the player build a character they want to play, the way they want it.

I think that roll for stats is a better method because point buy makes that all the players have the same values. And if a player wants to play a ranger, for example, and his characteristic are not so good, the GM could give him one or two +2 to improve them, or could permit to play with that character, because you needn't play with supermen. ;)

Savage Worlds only has point buy...

When we did play d20 we used point buy though.

Yea sorry was talking more d20 stuff, though there are some other systems that allow rolling.

I mainly play con games and one shots where Pre Gens are used, so it has to be point buy to be "fair".
