FG in a VM

I know I've seen posts from a number of people who have FG working in a virtual machine. I've been trying to get it running in VirtualBox on a Macbook Air without a whole lot of luck.
Does anyone have any advice about getting FG working in a VM or emulator? I'm sure it'll work if I bootcamp the thing, but I'd really like to avoid that.

I should be more specific - by "not working" what I mean is that the application launches, but all I see is a window title bar and sometimes a blank window with no contents - generally hardcore graphical glitchy stuff.

Did you enable the "cross-platform compatibility mode for Linux/Mac" during install? I have FG installed on VBox with Windows XP as the guest and had to enable that option (-r at the end) to make the flickering stop.
