View Full Version : Migrating from maptool to Fantasy Grounds

I have a few questions, my maptool maps are all using 50x50 pixels = a 5 foot square. What does Fantasy Grounds use?

If it uses something else, how easy is it to adjust the grid to fit 50x50?

also, if it's not using 50x50, what are the modules you can buy using? I'd like to be consistent with them if possible.

Thank you.

If I'm understanding your question right: You can adjust/size FG's grid to whatever size you need. It's a click and drag method to create the grid size.
The hardest part is usually lining it up, but you get that after a few tries.

Ideally, I'd like to know the default size of a fantasy ground 5 foot square in pixels. For example maptool uses 50x50.

I don't believe there is a default, it's all personal preference.

In the 3.5E and 4E rulesets, a 5 foot square is equal to one grid square. The grid square size is defined by drawing a square on the map. There is no default size, since map resolution varies quite a bit depending on the source of the map.

Also, tokens can be globally or individually sized relative to the map as well.

The only challenge comes when maps have a grid that is not consistently sized. (i.e. not an even number of pixels, or skewed from scanning)

Cheers,
