First I suggest going to google, do a search for pdf to word and download that pdf to word converter , and then convert the pdf file you desire to be converted to text. Open both fg2 and the converted document, find a word on the doc you want pasted like a name or something, then hit Ctrl C to copy then go into fantasy grounds 2 and create a new Fg 2 personality(Click on name field) then hit Ctrl V to paste. It's the way I am converting some old stuff I have and have found it works somewhat well but slow.

I've never managed to find a reliable, free pdf-to-text converter. If you have found one, would you mind pointing me to it? Thanks!

Out of curiosity, if you are doing it that method, why not just use the select text feature in Acrobat and save the time of conversation? I can understand it if you are trying to run a program to do the conversion automatically, but if you are doing it manually why add the extra step?

Thanks for the info, I havent used acrobat in a while, I will have to get my hands on it.

I have found that fox it reader's select text option works better than acrobats, it doesnt overlap all the text together like acrobat does, in short it lets you draw a box over the hightlighted text unlike the select text in acrobat.

https://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ is where I got the pdf reader that I use instead of acrobat. It's select text tool is easier to use than acrobats imo.

That appears to be an adware site.

I use SomePDF and it's various extraction software to make PDF into txt/word/html or extract all the images, and am very happy with it. It's free.^^

For copying text from PDF to FG I just copy and, if need be, use https://www.textfixer.com/tools/remove-line-breaks.php to remove line breaks.

Under Linux I use "pdftotext". It's also available on Windows but I've not tried it. Here's the link to the Windows version ftp://ftp.foolabs.com/pub/xpdf/xpdf-3.02pl5-win32.zip. I use the -layout option for a cleaner extract of the text.

There's also a CTRL+J shortcut built into the story formatted text area that will join the current line with the next line.

Cheers,

can someone point me towards the best guide/howto for creating my own module. i have 3 plot lines running at the momment - one is from a purchased module, one expands on some leads from that module and the third is my own set in the same area as the module.
i would like some pointers on a good way to make it into a proper module in a redistributable form so that i can share it here if the players give it a yes.
ive got 4 maps together so far (and probably have 5 more to do) and im still fleshing out story line and characters.
i need to know how to add my monsters in and things like that...

I think you just click and drag the monster into the encounter page of the adventure, I am not to sure but if anyone knows please correct me if I am wrong.

Both the resources look good though I didn't throughly read through all of them. One comment though - unless you are meaning to make a commercial release you don't need near that much information to run a game. Personally for my own games I just input NPCs, Encounters, maps/images and treasure. If I have time I will also input read-aloud text.

The NPC's are all your really need at the minimum since they typically take a while to input.
