Init and Group tabs in Combat Tracker

I've always wondered what the "Group" tab was for in the Combat Tracker (Foundation ruleset).

So, why would you use the grouping? I'm guessing to keep sets of Bad Guys and PCs separated. Deleting a group would be handy to keep your PCs from being deleted. What else can it be used for?

Just wondering.

Perhaps one of the people who worked on the Foundation ruleset can help answer. My guess is that it was related to grouping encounters somehow.

I will be changing to the Encounter campaign records approach used in 4E ruleset for the next version of 3.5E ruleset.
