So, this is my problem I am having so far. I am trying to figure out why it is that when I bring up my maps, they are always so blurry. This makes it a real pain in the butt when I want to make a large scale map, then zoom in.

I am currently using Fractal Mapper and I can make some really good looking maps, but once I get them to FG, they loose all quality.

Any help here will be great. Thanks everyone :D

Can you give examples of image size and type?

Sure, I would export the image from Fractal Mapper at 500x500 ( I think that is 500 pixels x 500 pixels) and I would export them in JPEG format.

how many "squares" on the 500x500 map? A low resolution square in FG would be 20x20 or 30x30?

Also, did you ever resize the image after the first time you used it in FG? Because the program stores the size of the image and if you make a lower resolution image after the fact and use the same name it will expand it to the original size, thus causing it to distort and blur.

How would I resize the image? Sorry, I am really new to doing this on FG

Try exporting at the highest resolution you can from Fractal Mapper and see if that makes a difference?
