Custom ruleset question # 327

If I want to play two campaigns, one with the world of darkness rule set and one with the traditional 3.5 rule set will I be able to or will I have to install the application twice in different directories and mod one of them and leave one vanilla? Or something... :) Thank you!

As the DM (I'm assuming you have the Full License functions) you just chose the ruleset you want to use when you "Create New Campaign"

And to jump ahead to #328 (pardon me if it was actually #325 and you already know)...

The players don't need to buy or download a copy of the ruleset, only the GM. The clients download the code from the GM's machine when they connect. I'm not sure if .PAK rulesets an exception to that. Hopefully someone else can answer that.

Which can make the first time you connect to a campaign a long process. It's very helpful for players to try connecting to the GM a few days in advance to get that out of the way on gameday. Even if not all of them do, it speeds it up for the others since the GM's machine won't be trying to distribute it to as many connections at once.

Although I'm not certain, I think that PAK rulesets (which are few and far between) don't need to be downloaded from the GM, but still *can* be downloaded if the player doesn't have it installed. Perhaps a dev can confirm?

Not a dev, but from personal experience, yeah it works that way. PAK rulesets have a higher priority than the folder rulesets.

This means that if a player has a PAK with the same name as GM but the GM's is a different version the player's PAK will fail the CRC check an the ruleset be downloaded every time the client connects.
