Howdy.

Anyone have a fun idea of how to make parchment scrolls and other old looking backgrounds. Things that look like the passage came from an old tome, a worn scroll, etc.

Photoshop was a bit spendy, but I think it will be worth it. Thank you so much for the link, I should have found something like that myself. I spent most of today trying to follow that tutorial and my result is below. I'm kind of happy with it. This is the blank copy, I was able to find an excellent font and used the liquify thingy to really make it look hand written, but what I wrote is kind of silly, so I'll just share the blank one. :)

Here's one I have used in the past. Its for creating a realistic WANTED poster but the techniques apply to any aged paper really.

You can also use another layer to add some color burned edges to add a burnt edge look.

Excellent! Thank you. Had to give that one a go too, used my brother. :-P Kind of grainey and the color is too dark I think, but I hope to get better. Over all I think it's okay considering I never used Photoshop before yesterday.

If Photoshop is not in your spending limit. There is comparable software on the market that is Open Source and FREE to download. It is called GIMP and can be downloaded here:

That's awesome! I think I will forever associate Xorne with that little guy. His tutorials were a perfect introduction to FG and taught me a lot.

I know what you mean. I can't hear the D&D cartoon intro jingle without thinking of Xorn's video intro's :)
