View Full Version : Complete Dark Heresy library module made

I like Warhammer 40k in general, and i wanted to play DH with some friends but since they were from different cities a face-to-face campaign was impossible.
Looking for alternate solutions, i stumbled upon in FG2 and the excellent community based DH ruleset by Nezzir. I loved it immediately.
However, upon learning about library modules i was a bit disappointed to see that the DH ruleset didn't have one.
Since it'd be really handy for DH players i decided to make one.
It's finally done after a lot of work and i'm posting a screenshot here so you can check it out.
Unfortunately as for the module itself, i asked The Man for permission to post it (namely a Fantasy Flight Games Inc. representative) but i got refused; therefore i can't publicly link it.
I hope you like the module. Message me if there's anything unclear ;)

thanks for the huge effort you must have undertaken, you have my group's undying gratitude!

I'm not surprised you were refused permission to distribute it. If it's a rules module, it's full of their copyrighted material. However, you might like to get back to them and contact Doug to see if they would be willing to distribute it (ie. sell it) via Smiteworks' website. You'd get commission as the developer of the module, and it would be legal - unlike what you seem to be hinting at here and what the poster above has obviously read in to with your post.

Well i obviously have no control over what is being read into my posts, although your idea does sound interesting and i wouldn't mind sharing this module legally and even making a buck in the process. IF this were to go through i'd even consider working on modules for more of the splat books on DH, which i also own, like Inquisitor's Handbook or Disciples of the Dark Gods.
Now i know who to tallk to on FFG's end, what about SmiteWorks, who would i need to speak to ask if THEY are interested?:)
What would be nice to see too eh eh a database with all the creatures and foes for DH...some dude started but never finished and i´m a noob in this things so...but nice and wonderful job :)
Thanks
My module does contain that. It's chapter XII of the book: Aliens, Heretics and Antagonists. Sure it doesn't have the creatures from the supplements like creatures anathema but it's a pretty big collection of monsters and NPCs (all statted out) and even Daemonhost creation rules.

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough in the last post. The Smiteworks end is Doug Davison who is contactsble on the FG2 support email address. I'd go back to the same FFG contact you had before. If both sides are interested, introduce the FFG contact to Doug and let them hammer out the contractual side.

Done and done. Contacted both parties, now i'm just waiting. If this goes through and people actually buy it, i'm going to be making a lot more modules, for Dark Heresy, perhaps other FFG games as well and put them up on the store if i or someone else can make rulesets and people are interested.
Would you guys be interested in that btw?

I would certainly be interested in using your ruleset. It's only fair, however, that you get paid for your work here, so I hope you'll find a solution.
If you're willing to share your creation, though, could you please send me a PM?

tlavalle: what i made was a library module. As such it's just good for Dark Heresy. The ruleset was made by Nezzir a long time ago and it's available here: https://oberoten.dyndns.org/fgwiki/index.php/Dark_Heresy
If you want to edit it and make a deathwatch version that's what you need, not my library module
JMlynarz: again it's a library module, not a ruleset. If you need a ruleset check the link above. If you need a library module for that ruleset then it's my stuff you need.

Sorry, yes, I meant the library module. I had the ruleset installed for a while, but the lack of a library of rule references was making it difficult to use at times ;).

Go to either of the Yahoo groups listed on the wiki and join one of those. You can then download the ruleset from there.

I'm confirming that nezzir doesn't mind and I'll be fixing the broken link at the FGWiki. Thanks for pointing out that it was a dead link Vexnos. We're trying hard to clear all those up!
If anyone else happens to find a dead link on FGWiki, be sure to PM me and Oberoten.

There isn't anything in the library with the DH ruleset. You'll have to get the rules from the books (or pdfs from Drivethrurpg.com)

Unfortunately Smiteworks hasn't been able to get the license to publish Warhammer materials yet.

if I get them as PDF can I put them in the library of the ruleset?
IS PDF a valid format in the program?

It is arcane, but this stickied thread (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12948&highlight=library+module) tells you how to do it in a pdf. It sure isn't my definition of fun, as I've written a couple of library modules (one was the help library module that I quit maintaining because it is just so burdensome to do). Exporting gm modules is a pretty slick thing, but there is currently no equivalent for library modules. As far as I know, there is no near-future relief in this regard, although it's on the wish list.

The last released one is here: https://oberoten.dyndns.org/fgwiki/index.php/Dark_Heresy
Could you let me know if there are any bugs or issues with it you know of? I haven't heard anything definitive on it.

About the ruleset does it have the fixs to the talents and skills and i guess one problem with the combat tracker too...?
I'm honestly not sure about this. I know I have the files with the fixes, but I'm not sure if they got compiled into this version. Could you download and test then let me know?

It's definitely not a broken link: https://oberoten.dyndns.org/fgwiki/index.php/Dark_Heresy
Click on the File: DarkHeresy.pak at the bottom of the details box.
What were you trying to click?

Does the Dark Heresy rule set incorporate the sort of combat functionality that the D&D 4th Ed rule set does (Like drag and drop attacks & HP management ect)?

Nope. Nothing at all.

Any new new regarding the DH library? I there hasn't been much activity on this thread for some time.
SoulOfTheReaver, I tried to PM you but it says your mailbox is full or something. Wanted to ask you if there was a way to get this library from you please?
