Problem running FG in multiple Operating Systems

On various computers at home, I am currently using Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, Ubuntu 10.04 (Gnome - Wine 1.1.42), and Windows XP. I cannot get the program to work in Linux, facing multiple Wine related problems that have no apparent solution at this time. In Server 2003 and 2008, I get a "Cannot initialize Direct X" error. Anyone have success in server edition?

My understanding was that DirectX is not intended for running on a Windows server environment.
