Is it possible to play FG reliably on a dial up connection?

The short answer is yes with the following caviats.

It will be very difficult to host a game unless you use the most bare bone images or the built in drawing tools or your distribute image modules ahead of time. However, it *has* been done.

You will find FG to be unusable as a dial-up player if the GM of your game uses tokens and images that are large files. Many GM's think nothing of pushing out images that are megabytes in size and use tokens much larger than a few K. You would not be able to play in such a game.

All that said, most people who use FG are on some sort of broadband and so I would say there are very few dial up friendly games. If you have further questions just ask.

As long as you really mean reliable and not 'optimal'.

Griogre is correct but more optimistic than I would be. I have never done it, but I have mostly heard only belly aches from those that do.

Some fellow players have had dial up or satellite lines. They're still playing so they must have found a compromise but it is a compromise. I would not attempt to DM across a dial up line.

You just can't really move furniture on a motorbike.
