I'm trying to resize some images for an upcoming game but having some problems. I watched Xorn's great videos but in Photoshop the Crop tool doesn't work as it does in Corel Paint. The rest of the process seems like it would work fine, if only I could measure the grids properly.

Does anyone have experience resizing maps with CS4? I'd appreciate any tips etc.

Not familiar with Corel Paint but the crop tool in CS4 is used for cropping an image not measuring a selection of the image.

To measure an image with a pre-drawn grid I would use the Rectangle Marquee tool (2nd tool down in toolbar on left in attached screenshot) to draw a 'marching ants' selection around a square of the grid. To do this simply select the Rectangle Marquee tool and then left click the top left corner of the grid square you want to measure and drag to the opposite corner, then let go.

Then simply look to the info tab (select Windows->Info from the menus if not visible or hit F8) which will detail width and height values for the selection, you can then determine how much you need to enlarge/reduce the image size by to get your desired scale.

Somewhat off-topic, but would you be happy to share your stone wall texture Dr Zeuss? It looks great!

Sorry Stuart, the map is an original WotC cant remember from which book though. You can grab it over at their website in the Map Gallery. I think it was Eberron Campaign Guide or Ashen Crown.

Ahh, and you had me thinking that you'd created it from scratch!

Cheers
