View Full Version : How does a DM also play as a player?

I know this is probably a simple question, but I did a search of the forums and nothing popped up for me.

I am playing with a friend, and I am DMing the game. I also want to play as a character in the game, as a PC with my token appearing at the top of the page alongside his so I can have a character sheet etc.

Could anyone with insight let me know how to do this, thank you in advance.

I usually do it by opening up another instance of FGII and connecting to myself using 'localhost' as the address and a different username.

FG's assumption is that GM's don't run PCs.

There are two work arounds: the easiest is to have your friend open both his character and yours since players can easily open more than one character. Once he opens the character for you, you just use it as normal.

The other is to start a second instance of FG with a different user name and log in as player using localhost or the private IP address. You may find this awkward because you have to manage two copies of FG but on the other hand your friend won't be able to look at your character if that is important.
