I've noticed a couple of Shadowrun rulesets out there and a couple of Classic Traveller ruleset as well. Was wondering if anyone has been working on a Classic Battletech RPG v3 ruleset?

And if we have any negotiations with Wizkids and Fanpro over this?

There are no official ones in the works and no communIication with Wizkids or Fanpro over one to date. I wouldn't mind seeing one though.

I would be so in on helping with the graphics for a MW ruleset.

So would I. But I am a jack of trades rather than a journeyman anything. But do tell what you need.

Both of their websites are pretty sparse at the moment. I was hoping to find the status of the licensing arrangements between the two and contact information.

Yeah I took a look as well, the main fanpro site is:

https://www.fanpro.org/

I tried going to their .com site but it was all gone. Also it looks like wizkids was bought out by Topps and then by NECA.

Thats the article. Might want to try the parent company many be with NECA and they could possible point you into the right direction with licensing.

Battletech is currently, I believe, owned by Catalyst Game Labs. They seem to have bought the license from WK Games. There's a new Battletech RPG game coming out titled "Time of War".

In early 2007, InMediaRes Productions, LLC opened negotiations with WizKids, Inc. to obtain the world-wide RPG publishing rights for the BattleTech and Shadowrun Intellectual Properties from WizKids, Inc. To facilitate this, InMediaRes Productions, LLC, is expanding its operations and forming a new publishing division, Catalyst Game Labs, to produce and publish products for both properties.

Yep it does look like it. Might want to try their as well, but there main site that hosts all the Classic Battletech, has wizkids everywhere as copyright owners. So I don't know, its like they all have some sort of cross licensing split the pie deal once FASA went under.

Weren't the rights bought back by one of the creators last year just before they announced a Mechwarrior 5 computer game and new rules?

Smith and Tinker or something like that.

(Could have just been the electronic rights but I have an inkling it was both)

Considering that the 4th edition of the battletech rpg (A Time of War) is coming out soon using shadowrun 4th edition rules I would think that Catalyst Game Labs still owns rights to the game system.

I've noticed as well they drop d10 in the new rules and just use d6.

Aye, IIRC the 1st edition Mechwarrior and the original miniatures game both used d6s as well. I've got the Time of War prerelease PDF. The rules look interesting at a glance. Might have to go and read them in more depth.

The current release uses both d10 and d6, one for abilities and the other for damage rolls. I might need to read the newest one as well. I might be more interesting but I currently like the current release :)
