Greetings, FGII!

Tuesday night, we held our very first session using Fantasy Grounds II. We're currently playing 4e D&D. The party is about to enter the dreaded Well of Demons in the Thunderspire Labyrinth.

I just wanted to let you know how well everything went! I GM for 6 players, and given the fact that everyone is still getting used to the interface, I am psyched about FGII's performance.

Things I'd love to see in the future:

- A partnership with Wizards to allow purchase of a 4th edition ruleset. I'm sure this is on many little GM's Christmas lists.

- Different color choices for areas of effect on maps (besides blue).

- A specifically Smiteworks map creator utility that you could import into FGII.

Anyway, thanks again for a great time! We've been playing online for about a year and a half, using Gametable and Dungeon Helper. Many times, I would be dreading our next D&D session, faulty programs, horrible graphics, bad connections. Needless to say, FGII parted those clouds and I can't wait for next week!

On the colors of AOE markers from pointers those match the dice colors of the DM and each player. Thus each player and the DM have a different color if they have a different dice color. Likewise the targeting rings are the same color as the dice color so you can see who has what targeted.

Thanks for that, Griogre!

Since I haven't explored the player side of it all yet, how do they target?

If you have a NPC on the combat tracker and place it on a map, when you share the map with the player(s) they can click on the NPC. A circle will appear around the NPC. If more than one player clicks on the NPC then part of the ring around the NPC will change to that player's color. Thus you want to make sure all your players choose different colors from you and each other. Sadly the GM does not have a targeting circle. In 4E it is really useful to use the targeting circles for marks, curses, quarry, etc so everyone can see which monsters have what on them.

On seeing what the players see you can start two instances of FG on one computer to look at the differances. Just start your host as normal. Then start a second instance. Click Join game. You must change your user name to something different from the user name on the host. For host address on most computers you can just type localhost for the address. If that doesn't work you will need to type in the local IP address of the server.
