Change A Campaigns Graphics

I'm not sure if this is possible or not. I know how to change the graphics in a ruleset (if you make your own), but, is it possible to change the graphics in a Campaign that someone else is hosting?

For example, I'm in a Castles and Crusades campaign as a player. The light background and hotkey boxes don't work well for me, so I'd like to replace them with the standard FG stuff. However, just copying the graphics into the C&C ruleset don't change anything.

Is there a step I'm missing? Or is it just not possible?

As far as I'm aware... The client always takes the ruleset from the host, caches it and runs based on that, and always updates that cache if it differs from the host's. Neither can extensions be used without being enabled by the host, nor can they be enabled on individual clients. So, it doesn't seem to be possible at the moment.
