Hello Everyone,

I would like to announce, for anyone interested, that I am planning to release an initial version (0.8) of the Swords & Sorcery ruleset on December 1st. I began this ruleset as a modification of the Labyrinth Lord ruleset, but have since rewritten it using the foundation package as a code base.

This ruleset has the following features:

Six essential rulebooks that describe the S&S fantasy world and system mechanics (somewhat terse at this point, but functional)
A free-form character sheet that provides an old-school lined-paper feel for players
Combat tracker enhancements including one-click initiative rolling for all actors, removal of actors based on their state, and other UI niceties
Automated treasure generation (coins and items) for found-on-monster treasure, hoards, and chests
Convenience commands for performing simple calculations, coins stacking and loot divvy
Automated combat: grappling, melee, and ranged attacks between actors may be performed with a few keypresses and mouse clicks to speed up combat and reduce DM stress (this is an optional feature)

I'm currently in the process of polishing it up for this first release - another ten days should be enough time to get it out the door...;)

Happy gaming,
Rob

You have some really neat features in the ruleset! I'm also dead impressed by the new icons.

Will you publish it on the Wiki?

Thanks Foen. The Fantasy Grounds Wiki looks like a good home for rulesets so I'll have it up there on the 1st if all goes well.

I love the random treasure in the chat window!

Is there a way you can drag it to the players. So far only the DM Sees it? I'd like to be able to approve a treasure and then push it to the players without retyping.

Ideally it would be hoard = x per share. There would be some sort of record as to the number of shares (if they weren't equal) and it would show up on the player sheet as new gold etc....

I wanted to keep the treasure generation results private so the DM can decide how he wants to relate it to the players.

That said, I agree that there should be an option to make the results public. I'll give it some thought. :)

The way you have it is great and I think the dm alone should see every random role like this first. If however it is going to be what the players get it would be nice to simply pass it on.

A new version of the S&S ruleset is available at:

https://oberoten.dyndns.org/fgwiki/index.php/Swords_%26_Sorcery

All future releases will appear on that page as well.

Treasure chests and hoards that generate items now produce a note that can be reviewed, edited, and shared with players.

I notice it doesn't create a note every time. It seems to only create a note if there are items.

Sigurd

Btw. Any chance you could put this into an extension ?

I've added an option to the preference manager that allows you to set the behavior of the treasure notes (version 0.8.3 will have it).

Putting the treasure generating functions into an extension is a good idea, as they are fairly generic and could be suitable for other rulesets. Once I get the code matured I'll look into it. :)

Version 0.8.3 (https://oberoten.dyndns.org/fgwiki/index.php/Swords_%26_Sorcery) is now up. Automated combat rolls and events now get recorded into a combat log, which can be handy for inspecting the details of what happened and what rolls were made.
