I have a player with the Lite version of the software and he is getting a lot of script errors, and is unable to create a character. The following script error appears after he starts FG and selects manage characters (with the Foundation ruleset selected and our campaign downloaded and selected).

Script Eror: [string "scripts/statchat_rolls.lua"]:77: attempt to call field 'isRolled' (a nil value)

This script appears 9 times followed by one instance of

Script Eror: [string "scripts/statchat_rolls.lua"]:44: attempt to call field 'setDice' (a nil value)

At this point you can go to characters and create a new character sheet. Everything seems to work fine until you get to the skills tab. The following error appears once when you change focus to the skills tab.

Script Error: [string "scripts/charsheet_skilllist.lua"]:172: attempt to call field 'setCustom' (a nil value)

The intimidate skill appears, but there are no other skills listed on the sheet at this point.

I have uninstalled his software and after updating his version, connected him to the campaign server long enough for the download of all the files to complete, and then tried again but it still generates the same errors. Our players with the full version don't have this problem. Is this an issue with the Lite version?

In short, yes it is.

The light version was in fact never made to utilize local rulesets at all but is supposed to draw all data from the cache and the GM.

Hmm. The lite version could use local version of a ruleset - if it was a PAK ruleset and if the ruleset was designed to support it. The d20 ruleset and the GURPS rulesets allow the lite version to build local characters.

However almost all rulesets do not fully support the lite version making local characters.

The character I made up tonight wasn't local. It was created on the server, and we still had the same problem. The only way to edit was from the server account. The player could not make skill changes, add inventory items or add weapons.

statchat only appears in local character mode (Manage Characters), so you shouldn't get those errors when in normal mode (Join Game).

cjl1138, so we are all on the same page, the way most rulesets expect a character to be created is for the GM to start the campaign server and the player to login. When the players log in they create a new character on the server and build it.

It is possble for the GM to build pre-gens on the server though.

If you tell us what ruleset you are using we might be able to give you better advice, but it sounds like there might be some confusion on what a local character is and what a server character is.
