View Full Version : Exporting Characters?

I'm sorry if this is one of those questions that has been asked and answered 1000 times already...
Is there an easy way to export a character sheet?
One of my PCs wants to be able to look at her character sheet during the week. Since the characters are all stored on the GM's computer, there's no way for her to do this.
Last week I ended up just sending her the db.xml file after game so she could find her PC and try to make heads-or-tails of it from the info in there, but that surely isn't the best way to do this.
Is there something I'm overlooking, an easier way to do this? Or should I add that to the feature request list?

Maybe not a thousand times before, but...
This thread covers it: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8765&highlight=print+sheet
The easiest way is to take screenshots to pdf.

I tried Fantasy Grounds Campaign Tools for the first time last night when one of the groups characters got corrupted and spotted the "print character sheet" option.
Very handy.

Thanks Sorontar, glad you found it useful.
OP.
For FGII Campaign Tools see here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10734&highlight=campaign+tools
As per a recent request (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10945&highlight=campaign+tools) you can use the tools to either export a HTML version of Character Sheets or export the XML to a a standalone XML file or target FGII campaign file.

Wow! Wow!
zephp! That program is amazing! Why isn't something like that built in to Fantasy Grounds!! Thanks so much, this is *exactly* what I was looking for.
The only way it would be better is if it were an FG expansion rather than a separate program, and could be operated from within FG. But, amazing, amazing work! Thanks so much for this!
(BTW, have you seen if there is a version of the character sheet exporter for the d20_JPG Pathfinder plugin?)

Why isn't something like that built in to Fantasy Grounds!!Because it would need to be different for every variant ruleset and game system?

osarusan - Glad you found it useful. I tried to make it as extensible as possible so its possible to adapt other XSL based solutions for other rulesets as plugins for the tools.
I mainly play 4E D&D so havn't explored other rulesets. As for incorporating it into FGII, not sure thats a sensible way forward as the tools make extensive use of XSLT which would only bloat FGII for such a small feature.
Still, I suppose the ruleset devs could offer print charsheet functionality assuming FGII exposes the calls via the XML/LUA APIs.
I tend to publish the HTML charsheets to our group's web portal, as it only takes a few minutes to do the whole group and as its only required once every level its not really a problem for me to use it as an external app.
