so i was looking at the code in moon_wizards d20 JPG ruleset . and noticed a very nice feature. you can add dice to abilities. for example you can drop a d20 into the line with say wild empathy and roll it as normal. it displays the results in the chat window as ability. also i just noticed you can drop dice into spell descriptions and when you use the mini sheet it adds the info to the chat window and rolls the dice in the description. this also works in the inventory screen so you could add acid flask, thrown and make an attack with a double click.

all of this is new to me and i was VERY excited to learn it. not sure if anyone knew these things . as nobody i have played with has used this feature.

Thanks Moon for all the hard work you do for us.

Chris

P.S. as an after thought . does anyone know how to add a modifier to the dice feature?

For both special abilities and spells, there is a number and a die field associated with each entry. Just drag and drop either dice or a number onto the special ability text line or the spell description to add the dice or number to that entry. When you roll the dice, any number included will be added to the roll.

If you need to quickly create a number to drag, just type "/die #" into the chat line.

I can't get it to add number to die either.

Hmm, I just tried it with spells. I dropped dice (3d4) and then a number (3) onto a Magic Missile spell. Then, when I double-clicked the dice field it rolled 3d4+3.

What are the steps you guys are taking? Walk me through them.

You can send a PM if you want to take this off-thread.

I tried you can't add a number on the mini sheet. It works for me on the larger normal sheet. Not sure how to add a d3 though, if I roll a d3 in chat I only get to add the number not the dice. But it's not a big issue.

You shouldn't be able to add dice/numbers on the mini sheet by design.

The basic premise that I use for the mini sheet vs. the main sheet is that the mini sheet is purely for use during the game, not for making changes to the character. If you want full editing, then you make the changes on the main sheet.

I know that when I first tried this, I had trouble getting it to work. I was dragging the modifier onto the die image next to the spell rather than dragging the modifier onto the spell itself. I'll bet (without looking at the code) that the field that gets created to store the dice for a given spell/ability/etc. isn't coded to accept number drops as a modifier, but that the spell/ability/etc. field itself is. The trick, I think, is to drop whatever you're dropping, be it a die or a number, onto the actual entry, not the die/modifier icon.

Great trick once you do it right; thanks, Moon! Love the functionality of the ruleset!
