Hey all,

In FGII v2.5 are the foundation and 3.5e .pak files encrypted or something? I can't seem to extract them using WinZIP or WinRAR. Both complain the archive is corrupted or non-standard.

Thanks for any assistance.

pak files where never just zipped files (you must be thinking of mod files). There used to be a D20unpak.exe with which you could extract the contents of the original D20 ruleset to the examples folder, but I don't know if you could use that to unpak the new rulesets.

I'm pretty sure .pak files are ZIP files. Its just some including the d20 pak are encrypted or something.

According to Joshua thats why a special d20unpack.exe was released.

We'll have a look at improving the unpak tool with an interface for extracting all the pak-files. Meanwhile, you should be able to rename a pak file to d20.pak and running the d20unpack.exe. ;)

I don't suppose you'd consider adding a pack tool at the same time as modifying the unpack tool? Something like being able to select a folder in the rulesets folders and pack it to a .pak file. Joshuha's instructions are okay, but fiddly.

I'lll second that request for a Pak-tool but go a step further. Let us choose wether it should be a .Pak or a .Ext or a .Mod file.

If we're making wishes....I'd like to be able to make my own encrypted pak, mod, ext files that require a password to unpak :)

Thanks Dupre. I'll use your workaround pending an improved tool.

The tool unpacks the 3.5 ruleset, but not my GURPS one. This may be because I've packed it differently and it may work if I pack it using the utility. I'm away from my main machine at the moment so I can't test this, but at the moment I just get the xml files and the fonts folder, but no scripts, frames or icons.

Many thanks, this is a great tool to have.
One minor enhancement request. Is it possible to prompt for the directory to extract to? Or possibly have it extract to the Fantasy Grounds data directory rather than the program files directory. It's not a problem though, as we can move the resulting directory with Windows Explorer.
