In 4E there are a lot of powers that are "Burst 1", "Blast 5" etc. This data is displayed in a field of the power. What I would like to do is be able to drag this field and either on drag (preferred) or on drop render it into the proper type of map area marker.
I'm not sure if this is possible, I know there was a bit of code posted that had instructions for creating custom area markers (the example was a cone I believe). Has anyone ever done anything similar/have any pointers as to where to look?

I believe the post was made by Joshua on pointers.
I've been pondering doing area effect tokens. Now that you can't click on transparent areas, if you did area of effect tokens - with a non transparent rim then I think they might be better than pointer because the pointers are a pain in crowded areas, especially if the center is over a monster.

Tokens are a pain as well...particularly if you play with tokens locked. Clients are unable to place or move tokens. Now the DM could do this but really I want to do less work not more :)

Ah, understood. I very seldom use locked tokens, usually only to freeze things while I read a description or start an encounter.
For 4E it would be very nice to be able to draw a square pointer like a Cone pointer where you draw from one corner to the opposite one since it is often a pain to get out the the square if it happens to be centered on a token.
