View Full Version : My Tokens

Hi everyone, first post, long time lurker.

I just started a D&D 3.5 campaign using FG2, and these forums (and the software), have been invaluable. Thanks to everyone, especially the collective community here.

I use Devin Nights' tokens (purchased, thanks Devin), because I prefer the overhead view and the artistic style.

I was unable to locate a token for the Darkmantle (https://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/darkmantle.htm), so I made this one today.

https://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h40/blake671/darkmantlecopy.png

I hope someone gets something out of this. If so, I'll post any other tokens I happen to make. I'll also post chop-shop customizations of some of Devin's tokens, if that's within my rights. I'm pretty lazy about making stuff from scratch if I can avoid it.

Cheers.

That's good work. Please go ahead!

This is a Grimlock that I made by modding Devin Night's Stone Troll, and a mod of his Gelatinous Cube to make it aligned to a square grid (and also a bit more of a top-down view).

His works are now free to the public, so I assume its cool for me to post these.

Thanks again, Devin.

As long as the mods are free no problem here.

I'm always interested in quality top-down tokens. These look good, too.

If you can do them and that's no problem, I would like to see a downloadable compilation (with the due credit), even if they are variations of the original Devinnight works.

Oh yes, top-down is my preference and the selection is, unfortunately, sparse. I hope you will continue. devin's work is a great model, too.

Here's a wolverine (repaint of devinnight's badger) and a sheep (original). Apologies for the sheep's small size, I play with 72x72 token size, and I can't find the original larger file.

I've found that 72x72 scales very well, as you can zoom out 2x, 3x, 4x, 6x, or 8x and still get a smooth look.

I also made a flock of these sheep by copy/pasting the original with minute size and orientation changes. It's amusing to have low-level PCs roll a Reflex Save (DC 10) or be knocked prone and lose their movement phase of their turn when the flock is startled by a pack of wolves

Thanks guys, I'm very flattered, especially by you, Devin.

Here's an Aboleth I made for this week. I took a bit more artistic liberty with this one, as I don't think that a segmented body goes well with the slime coating. So, I just made it extra eel-y with a bit o' shark thrown in for some menace.

Oh, and if anyone wants the .psd's of any of my stuff, let me know. Apart from the sheep, I think I've got everything stored that way for backup.

Nice work mate!

Now I just need to hit the various stores and finally get some top down tokens instead of portrait ones!

Besides these and Devin's, are there any other good sources of top-down tokens? I too prefer their aesthetics.

Just an examples, becouse i need advice. What is a better scale? 100x100? 150x150? or something else? Is better to make some outlines around body (or glow) ,so then is better visible on dark terrain? In fact, any advice is welcome

I use 72 x 72 as my tile scale. I said that earlier in the thread, actually.

Here's an Ettin.

I apologize for the fuzziness and stuff. These are meant to be scaled down, and so I go for a more simple look to keep the detail clutter to a minimum. I scaled this one down to 200 x 200 and then cropped it to 193 x 200.

Also, this is my first time painting in Photoshop... and with a mouse... and with my right hand (I'm left-handed).

Enjoy, ladies and gents :)

Here's a quick Frost Salamander. Like the last few, this one is meant to be resized by a factor of 4 to fit a 72x72 gridsize.

I'd be honored.

EDIT - Just make sure you give Devinnight credit for the stuff that's his, that I'm just recoloring or modding a little.

A Fihyr (nice and creepy):

EDIT - Hey Oberoten, just checked the wiki, and you're giving me credit for two tokens in this thread that some other guy posted. I'd rather not be associated with those, sorry.

Oberoten
May 24th, 2010, 21:43
Which ones?

Oh well nevermind I will look for myself. Sorry for the Laziness.

I see. Dugong had made those two.

Dugong? If you are still around, could I post these two on the FG-Wiki as well with your proper credits?

Been a while since I've made a new token.

Here's the body of a slave guy, brutally cut down as he tried to escape:

The ochre jelly looks good too.
