View Full Version : Error on managing local characters

Whenever I go to "manage local characters", select a campaign and click "start", I get the following error:

Could not load ruleset root file base.xml
Do you want to try reloading the data?

Clicking "yes" continues to give the error, clicking "no" terminates the program.

Any ideas?

Which Ruleset are you using?

The 4e ruleset from FUM gives an error. Savage Worlds and D20 don't give an error.

Are you using the latest 1.51 release?

It works for me with no error.

It's not the latest version. I don't know what version it is, I'll ask my DM.

I'm not 100% certain but it was 1.3.x

Some of the 1.3.x series had serious issues with local characters. The 1.5.1 should be reasonably functional assuming you also have FGII patched to 2.4.4 (some versions of FGII from 2.4.0 to 2.4.3 had issues with local characters).

So is the resolutino to upgrade beyond 2.4? We currently have 2.4 installed and are having the same issue when attempting to view characters we get the following message: "Could not load ruleset root file base.xml. Do you want to reloading the data?"

We have not updated beyond 2.4 due to not wanting to introduce unknown issues.

Thanks

Early 2.4 releases had a host of issues.

2.4.4 seems to have addressed the majority of them, especially those dealing with local characters. I recommend updating to it if you haven't already.
