Can't Type after awhile

I have two problems that might be related. One is after some time, or perhaps some action, I can no longer type inside the program. I can type in other programs, but it seems as if the keyboard is broken only inside the program. I noticed this more often when the program is maximized. Also if my computer shuts down the monitor for idle when it comes back, I can't do anything inside the program. No mouse response (from buttons), I can't move windows, nothing.

Is this a known bug and is there a work around or something I can stop doing?

To add, I have windows vistax64, AMDx64 X2 dual core 5400, 2.81 GHz, 4GB of ram

Make sure if you go into other windows that you get back to FG using Alt-Tab. Just clicking on the window will give you mouse control but no keyboard interaction.
