My play group has patiently been waiting for our game to resume, and it finally happened last night. Looks like Wednesday D&D night is back on! Snagged a few screens while we were playing:

778
779

Amazing how much the ruleset improves in a month or three :)

Xorn,

What resolution is your monitor at?

Heh. I hear that question every time I post a screenshot. It's stupidly high, and I only use it when hosting FG2. I have a 22" LCD widescreen (1680x1050) as my primary monitor, and next to it I have a 21" CRT that supports 2048x1536. Even with a 21" tube it's pretty tiny though. One of these days I'm going to get another LCD to put beside it, but for now I prefer this to using them side-by-side (I have the CRT @ 1280x1024 then), because sometimes my screen gets laggy when I'm doing that. (Chat sure is easier to read though.)

I'm looking over your screens trying to pick up useful placement from an experienced player (already copied your Adventure Log layout ;) ). I was wondering, what is the use of the token window in the bottom left of the screen that has all the players viewing it?

Also in the 2nd screen you have 2 maps open (3 including DM key). One is active and the one behind it has the mask on it. What is going on there? Are you using a separate map for each room?

The screen with just the player tokens is the "Marching Order" screen. Just a reminder of the order the party is traveling.

Like Xorne I usually have a map that has just the marching order - 5 foot and 10 wide and watch orders on it.

The other map was the complete (much lower image resolution) map which I use as an exploration map. Then I typically use encounter maps when we need a more exact tactical map.

I'm thinking about dropping the encounter battlemaps though--following some of Griogre's tips I've gotten my exploration maps pretty small in file size, while still looking good.

My group tried a full map for KotS and we love it. I made the map in photoshop without too much work using a 50 px grid which made the level 1 map come out at 3500x3500. The jpg is only 2.7 mb which loads within about 10 seconds and also for several sessions, it's going to be the only image they see :p

Same here, I made a full level one at 50x50 squares that came in just under 1 mb that I plan on using. Posted here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10547

I may re-save it at a higher quality level if you can load yours at almost 3mb with no problem.

I like to keep my map files small so my sepiaed keep level 1 map is only 1105x966 with 18x18 pixel squares and is a 463K png file.
