Using tokens

Open the token box using the shortcut on the tabletop.

To access tokens in bags, double click the bag icons. To return to an upper level from a bag, click on the second icon in the row of bag slots at the bottom of the token bag. To return to the top level, click the first icon in the row.

Drag tokens from the box onto maps and images, onto the hot key bar for quick access later or onto the tabletop for temporary storage.

Creating bags in the token box

Invoke the radial menu on an empty portion of the token box.

Select "Add new bag".

A new bag is created. User created bags have a red color. Brown colored bags are created as a result of the folder structure from which the tokens are built, and is controlled by the GM.

Moving tokens into bags

Drag a token onto a bag icon. To move tokens higher in the bag hierarchy, drag them onto the first or second icons on the bag bar at the bottom of the token box.

Using the token box quick slots

Drag a token bag onto a slot on the bar at the bottom of the token box.

Clicking on the bag will move you directly to that bag from any location in the bag hierarchy. Tokens can be dropped on the slot to move them into the bag on the quick slot bar.

Targeting tokens

The GM can not target tokens using the same system as the players, due to the way that the targeting system is implemented in FG.

Host targeting has been implemented in the ruleset through the combat tracker. See the Combat Tracker (4E) section for more details.

Rotating tokens

Hover over the token you wish to rotate.

Scroll the mouse wheel to change the orientation of the token to one of the eight cardinal directions.

Adding and removing tokens

Tokens can only be edited between sessions.

Open the "Fantasy Grounds II" group on the Windows start menu.

Select the "Application Data Folder" shortcut.

Open the "tokens" folder.

Open the "shared" folder if you want to edit the tokens visible to everyone (including players).

OR

Open the "host" folder if you want to edit the tokens only visible to the GM.

Add or remove any tokens you want to use for any campaign.

Open the "Fantasy Grounds II" group on the Windows start menu.

Select the "Application Data Folder" shortcut.

Open the "campaigns" folder.

Open the folder named after the campaign you want to edit tokens in.

Open the "tokens" folder.

Add or remove any tokens you want to use specifically for this campaign.

Tokens added to this folder will only be visible to the GM.

Note

The recommended image format is PNG for the best transparency support. Token file sizes should be monitored for practical purposes, as larger files take longer to share, especially so with a larger number of players.

Note

The number of tokens in the ruleset can also affect performance. The number of token files should be kept to the minimum necessary to run the game for best performance.

Note

Most tokens available online use a 50x50 or 64x64 token size in order to balance clarity with image size.
