Additionally, there are several commands that can be entered on the chat input line. See

Click on the chat input line to enable text input.
Type the message, as a line of dialogue spoken by your character.
Press Enter. You can hold a modifier key while pressing Enter to use a particular chat mode.
The line will be sent in a font identifying the chat mode used.

Click on the chat input line to enable text input.
Type the slash command for the chat mode you want to use, followed by a space.
Type the message you want to use with the chosen chat mode.
Press Enter.
The line will be sent in a font identifying the chat mode used.
Chat buffers
If you want to quickly comment on a game issue at hand while writing a lenghty piece of dialogue, it is convenient to toggle between the two available chat buffers to do that.
Write some text on the chat input line
Hold the CONTROL key and press either the up or down arrow key.
The text in the chat input line will be replaced with the text in the other chat buffer, if any. Any text in the original buffer will be saved until you change buffers again.
Moods
If you want to indicate a particular mood for your normal chat messages, you can use the mood command to indicate the mood shown in your chat messages.
Example: Brian (anxiously): I don't want any part in this!
Click on the chat input line to enable text input.
Type /mood (or /m), followed by a space.
Type the mood text in parentheses that you want to show with your chat message, followed by a space. Parentheses are not required if the mood text is a single word.
Type the message you want to use with that mood text.
Press Enter.
- OR -
Click on the chat input line to enable text input.
Type /mood, followed by a space.
Type the mood text in parentheses that you want to show with any subsequent chat messages. Parentheses are not required if the mood text is a single word.
Press Enter.
All subsequent chat messages will display that mood text.
To reset the mood text, just type /mood on the chat input line and press Enter.
Voting
To call for a vote on a particular subject, you can use the /vote chat command.
Click on the chat input line to enable text input.
Type /vote, followed by a space, and the question you want to vote on.
Press Enter.
A voting box will appear in the chat window. There will be a voting circle for each client logged into the host.
To vote affirmative, that client clicks once in the box. To vote negative, that client clicks twice in the box.
Whispers
When you use the whisper commands, you will be whispering as your active character (or "GM" if you are the host).
Click on the chat input line to enable text input.
Type /whisper (or /w), followed by a space.
Type the name of the character you wish to send the message to (or "GM" to whisper the host), followed by a space. You can press the Tab key while typing, and the ruleset will attempt to find a unique match to the name you typed so far.
Type the message you want to send.
Press Enter.
The message will be sent to the desired character (or GM), without being revealed to the other players.
- OR -
Click on the chat input line to enable text input.
Type /reply (or /r), followed by a space.
Type the message you want to send.
Press Enter.
The message will be sent to the last person who whispered you.
Away from keyboard (AFK)
You can only perform this operation on your own characters.
Locate the portrait of your active character, and invoke its radial menu using the right mouse button.
Select "AFK" in the menu.
The character will be marked as AFK on everyone's screens. The indicator can be removed by typing the chat entry box, or by selecting the menu option again.
