    Adding Rule Sets

    Hiya Guys!

Names Davo, new to FG, and on the scrounge for enlightenment!

Is it a lot of bother to do up rule sets?? So say I wanted to start a game of Rune Quest (Mongoose Ed) (Actually Hawk Moon RPG). Is it a fairly simply task with no coding etc. If someone could point me in the direction or indeed enlighten me themselves I would greatly appreciate it.

    Cheers Davo

Changing or modifying rulesets takes code (xml and Lua). Once a developer has created the ruleset, anyone can use it without having to set up code or macros of their own.

Full rulesets sit in the rulesets folder of the Fantasy Grounds data folder. Extensions to rulesets sit in the extensions folder.
Using Ultimate license - that means anyone can play.

Cheers Valarian thanks for the enlightenment! So out of my realm in the main. So looks like using MORECORE to adapt to the rule set I want as best I can then. Thanks again

Or use simply the existing 13th Age ruleset. There is a 13th Age Glorantha setting from Chaosium for it. The content is not converted to Fantasy Grounds, but you can do it yourself, as needed. In adiition you‘ll end up with the nice D20 OGL 13th Age ruleset.

    Hiya Targas
Thanks for the reply. Forgive my ignorance but isn't 13th Age a D20 rule set?? Hawk Moon (Mongoose Ed) RPG is actually a % based system. Or is what you are telling me is that if I got the 13th Age rule set that there is some way of changing it to the % system??
    Cheers Davo )

There's a BRP ruleset. Not sure how close Hawkmoon RPG is to the base BRP.

The other way around. Indeed, by default Runequest is a % based system. But just recently Chaosium together with Pelgrane Press converted the Glorantha Setting to the D20 OGL 13th Age ruleset, which was a huge success. Now, instead of using the % based system you can use the 13th Age D20 system, well requiring you to learn those rules, and together with the 13G book from Chaosium can use the converted monsters, rune system, etc. with 13th Age.

If you‘ve played already a D&D like game, 13th age would not be too difficult to learn. In fact, it‘s an evolution of D&D3 / D&D4 as both lead developers of the former systems created their own system without the boundaries, tied to their former publishers. For me personally, it‘s by far superior than D&D5, and Pathfinder.

Check the links I posted above for a more comprehensive answer.
The charm is, you can use an existing 13th Age ruleset, with no need to spend 1.000 hours to create your own ruleset for Fantasy Grounds, as this was done for 13th Age already.

Thx mate yeah BRP isn't too far removed. Just figured that if there was a generic that I could hack....but that maybe too much work and pretty much I am trying to convert from Roll20 and less work from the GM point of view. Cheers I will look at what BRP is offering.

If there is an existing ruleset that has very similar mechanics you are usually best starting from there.
If you want to build out some sort of extension for MoreCore you would find this playlist useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54PS...qc_9w1TWQfTPUA
If you need a Roll built I happy to assist.
