    Can't host a game using nighthawk x4S ac2600 router?

    Greetings all been watching videos on hosting games on fantasy grounds and can't figure it out. I believe that I have configured the port forwarding correctly but the test connection will not work. I do not know much about networking, i will state that up front. I have seen it says that i have to use IPv4 but I can only find IPv6 in my router settings. Does this mean that I will be stuck using a 3rd party program to be able to host a game?

    Hey Rixshaw! Couple things before the experts come along. If you have a windows pc, make sure you have done the following:

    1 - Set you network connection to private and not public;
    2 - Make sure that you set a rule to allow fantasygrounds.exe through whatever your antivirus software is;
    3 - If you use malwarebytes, make sure to disable real time web protection (this is a current known issue but hopefully malwarebytes has/will fix it)

    If it still doesn't work after these things are in place, let us know.

    Also, I think I found your router manual. Did you follow the instructions on page 132? See attached screenshots.

    Net guard : on
    3. I do not have malwarebytes running in the background (just used once in a while to catch stuff)
    4. ports
    service name: FTP
    protocal: TCP
    specify ports: 1802
    use the same port range for internal port

    Try setting the rule to "open to all devices" instead of "use designated ports". I know someone else with Mcafee had a similar issue to yours and that seemed to fix it. Not sure it it was coincidental to the fix or the actual fix. Nonetheless perhaps try it and then report back?

    Thanks the test connection worked after changing after open to all devices. Will not be able to do a real test till the end of the week when my friend's work sends him back home. I feel confident since the connection test was a success. thanks again for all the help!
