    Outdoor 3D Battlemaps

Has anyone done or seen some 3D battlemaps?

Typically battle maps used in Fantasy Grounds are simple X-Y (north-south, east-west) planer maps. I'd like to add the dimension of height. A perfect example is in an encounter taking place in a ravine. One can represent this with the typical planer maps we all know and use, but I think I'd like to try my hand at the 3D look.

This could be done using a paint like raster based application like Krita, Gimp, Photoshop... But that would probably take my days, maybe weeks, or even months to get right. I just bought Campaign Cartographer and would like to put it through its paces. Stretch my development envelopment a bit. I'm no pioneer, especially with a program that's as new to me as CC is. I'd like a peek at other works if anyone has seen some.

I'm sure it can be done, CC does a great job at providing the typical 3D look on a 2D media for overland maps, I just want to squeeze it down to the local scale (100 feet instead of a 100 miles).

This might be of interest: https://secure.profantasy.com/produc....asp#&panel1-1 It's more dungeon orientated, but it does have vegetation, rocks, and other symbols that could be used outdoors.

There was also an annual for perspective buildings: https://www.profantasy.com/annual/2013/february13.html

Thanks Gwydion and Trenloe. I'll check out the links.
Perspective drawing immediately comes to mind... I think I saw somewhere, right now one can get something like 50% off on an annual..

Thanks Gwydion. Spot on with the recommendations. Your video review of the product was very insightful. I'll probably go with the Campaign Cartographer Perspective solution since that's the direction I'm headed in right now anyway. But for someone who wants a piece together system these Epic-Isometric products would be perfect.

As you mention in your review the grid is going to be problematic, but that's a FG thing. I wonder if an extension would take care of that? (Like I don't have enough on my plate already.)

[EDIT] Oops forgot to mention. I totally agree with you. Doing entire campaigns in this style might be trying, and actually, unnecessary. But for that one "boss-like" special encounter or something like that the occasional isometric/perspective map would sure throw some flair in there!

Precisely what I was looking for.... Thanks Trenloe.

Now, you (and a few others) seem to be the face of ProFantasy here on the FG forums.

I've pretty much figured out Smiteworks store discount cycles, plus the newsletter helps. I'm wondering does ProFantasy have semi regular sales / discounting? I want the Perspectives product, but I can wait for a sale. I still have some proficiency (points) to build up on CC3+ DD3 and CD3.

I really need a Pumat Sol (see Critical Role) of myself to get all the stuff done that I'd like to accomplish.

I think they so a black Friday sale, but I've never noticed or heard talk of a regular sales schedule.

As LE says - there's usually a Black Friday sale.

Additionally - you should have got a 10% off discount code with the Bundle of Holding, and the most recent newsletter also has an additional $12 discount code (if you'd subscribed to the newsletter).

You guys must be looking at the June, I just received the May and it doesn’t have that. So now I have to quickly decide if I can wait until Black Friday, or use the bundle discount code before the end of the month!

    Thanks guys.
