HELP - VPN Connection (PureVPN)

Hey guys,

I'm about to give up, and PureVPN's technical support seems useless.
I've tried everything I've seen in other threads, my connections are set to private not public (I've even totally disabled my firewall at one point to test it).
I've been using a range of PureVPN's dedicated IP servers.

Also get Failed on the connection test.

Worst thing is, with the VPN off I get success every time, but i need this to work so I can connect when I'm away at hotels where port forwarding isnt an option.

Can anyone provide support?

I'm on Windows 10, I've seen some of you guys are running PureVPN (thats why i chose this VPN), what setting etc are you using on it?

Welcome to the forums.

The main thing with PureVPN is that you usually need to have the dedicated IP address add on. If you have this, is it enabled? That is - do you always get the same IP address from PureVPN each time?

The second thing only start FG after PureVPN has issued you an IP address. When in the FG load campaign screen, click on "< Click to retrieve >" for the External address - the IP address returned must match the PureVPN IP address currently shown in the PureVPN client.

I dont have the dedicated IP addon,
I was given this list below by PureVPN and told I dont need to pay to use these in order to try the connection;

sg.pointtoserver.com*
online-gaming-us.pointtoserver.com
online-gaming-au.pointtoserver.com
online-gaming-ap.pointtoserver.com
online-gaming-eu.pointtoserver.com

At this point however I'm doubting if PureVPN know what they are doing.
It is a distinct possibility they dont know how their own system works and I need to buy the dedicated IP option.


They just got me to pay for the NAT Firewall, can you confirm thats not neccessary?

Yeah, people who use PureVPN successfully to GM with FG have found they need the dedicated IP address option.

Sorry to be a pain, would it still be one of the suggestions i put in the first post, or are they supposed to send me a unique link or something once ive paid?

I tend to use a specific location close to where I'm physically located. Select the location - I don't use any of the generic connection types.

Go to Personalized Selection -> Browse All Server, and select your country and then a location. Try to avoid the virtual servers - the ones with the "i" next to them.

Beranicus, I have PureVPN and as Trenloe stated, the only "extra" I paid for is the dedicated ip address. I was not able to get it to work with FG without the dedicated ip. With that I connect fine without a need to portforward. It just works. I'm happy to help troubleshoot if you need it. Just PM me. I've also found another VPN solution that works as well if you get to a point where you just can't get PureVPN to work. That being said, I've not had any real issues with PureVPN absent one spot of technical difficulties on their end when their servers went down and I agree with you that their customer service is not very responsive or helpful in my experience.

Got the dedicated IP, there's another load of money down the drain, that says its connected (VPN not FG) but there's basically no internet through it, I think dial-up would be faster, on the up side, i dont have to look at "FAILED" anymore on FG, because it just says "ERROR", i assume because its timed out even trying.

Considering I've just found a nice clause buried in their money back guarantee that says if you have connected 100x or more you nullify your 7 day refund, and that this has been on and off constantly trying different connections (largely at their insistence i may add) I may cut my losses while I still can and get my money back.

May be annoying for the other guys in my group (hence me trying this approach) but i sense I may be getting us all to install hamachi.

Genuine thanks for the support, even just as somewhere to rant about PureVPN, I appreciate that it works for many of you, but their customer service and general incompetence really warns me away from dealing with them any further, i'd rather my money eventually go to somewhere that's competent.

So sorry to hear that! It sounds like you are done with PureVPN which I totally understand. Weird, though as I've never head speed issues with it. I don't want to have you go through more brain damage, but I was able to get my own VPN service up with AlgoVPN. If you want to see if you can connect with my instance (and you are running Windows 10), if you PM me I can send you an email with one file to load up and in about 10 minutes we can figure out if it will work for you. Totally up to you, though. I don't want to be pushy if you aren't interested in trying it. Just let me know and good luck!

Okay, quick update.
I spoke to their billing team in order to cancel and spoke to someone who seemed more like a person than the other robots I'd been dealing with, some specific DNS settings and theyve provided some different hosts and its actually working! Wierd thing is, its working without the Dedicated IP or NAT Firewall, she said they actually recommend NOT having the Dedicated IP for games and they are refunding me for both the addons.
