    Interest Check: Savage Otherworlders

    This is a check to determine interest in the following:

    Savage Worlds: Otherworlders

    Today started as a normal day. You woke up, did a few bits of self-grooming, and began your normal routine. Maybe you would have savored it a bit if you knew it was going to be the last taste of normal you may ever have had.

    Your life started as a normal life
    . Maybe normal for you was the toil of a serf under the rule of a noble Lord. Maybe it was catching a bus and working in a shop. Maybe it was floating in space and mining an asteroid field for long-scarce resources. Whatever normal was where you came from, you thought you were part of it. How wrong you were.

    Today wasn’t a normal day. You don’t have a normal life. Maybe normal will never happen to you again. Normal ended for you in a flash of light and noise, and the end of normal smelled like cabbage cut from its roots and left too long in the sun.

    You’re an Otherworlder, now, baby, and normal just ain’t in your cards. What the heck is an Otherworlder? Unstuck in time and space, flitting about the infinity of dimensions, an Otherworlder has been ripped from their homeworld perhaps never to return. You’re a cosmic pinball bouncing around the multiverse, never knowing how long you can float in any space before the arm of the cosmos smacks you again sending you reeling to your next destination. And the worst part? No one even knows why this happened. At least no one you’ve ever met.

    You’re in for a hell of a ride, but don’t bother strapping in. It won’t save you, because the Worlds you bounce around in are Savage.

    It’s not all bad, though. Whatever did this thing to you also gave you super powers. That should help, right?

    Part Savage Worlds, part Ancient Future (don’t worry if you’ve never heard of it), part Jumpers (look it up, it’s cool.), Savage Worlds: Otherworlders is a campaign utilizing the Fantasy Grounds VTT and Savage Worlds Ruleset to play a fast-paced dimension hopping game of reality-tossed super-powered adventurers who have been slipped a cosmic mickey.

    Characters will begin play as Novice characters from any Savage Worlds setting (except for Super Powers setting.) When they become Otherworlders they gain the Super Powers Arcane Background with “Street Fighter” (30 Points) of Super Powers.

    The Characters will be flipped from world to world, put in unusual situations, with their only constant being each other- and even that being only as consistent as the Players. Come in the middle of a game in progress? Join the group the next time they jump. Have to leave? The next jump puts you out of sync and you won’t be showing up again until the next time you can play. Wanna tweak something about your character? A new jump is a new opportunity for an alternate reality version with slightly different abilities and memories.


    This campaign will likely be either semi-weekly (3 out of 4 weeks) or bi-weekly (every other week.) The time I would have to run it would be Evenings (except Thursday) or possible in the afternoon on Saturdays. I am Eastern Time Zone, have the Ultimate License, and have been a gm for going on 3 decades. I don't have much Savage Worlds experience, but have familiarized myself with the system and it looks like its fast pace and light yet adaptable framework will work well for this type of game.

    Most likely will be using Discord (https://discord.gg/fUEPWXW) for voice. Gameplay will include bot roleplay and combat in a roughly 50/50 mix, suited to the players' style.
