Exporting created content for use in other modules

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I spent a few minutes searching and couldn't find an answer.

I'm new to FG, so I probably did this in the wrong order. I loaded a module (Curse of Strahd) and then in that module I created generic tables and story templates to use, but that could also be used in any other modules. Things like books names, male and female first and last names, shop story templates along with the tables to support them, etc. Each of these has a lot of info, and I don't want to have to recreate them.

So how do I go about getting that info out of CoS so I can use it in any other module?

If I was starting from scratch I think I would create a new campaign, create the tables and such, then export that into a module that could be loaded into any other module.

So do I export my current CoS campaign, open it back up in a new campaign, delete all the stuff I don't need (basically and the stuff I didn't create), then re-export it to a more generic module?

Or am I not even close on thinking what to do?

    Thanks,
    Don

Export from you CoS campaign. You will only export whatever you created in that campaign. You may well get some stuff that you don’t want which you can remove.

You can’t re-export a module, so whatever you export from you campaign will be what you end up with.

You are correct in that it is good practice to have a ‘creation’ campaign where you create stuff and export from that campaign for use in any other.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Info on exporting a module here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/...#Module_Export

You don't need to export everything in the campaign, you can click/drag individual records to the module export window.

Or, copy the campaign folder (from your FG Data folder) and rename one of the folders to something like "Custom Table Development". Then open the new campaign and unload CoS module, remove the PC's and any campaign types notes. Now you have a development campaign for your custom tables that you can continue to update and re-export as desired, and your CoS play campaign.

    An even better idea. Awesome!

This was the item that I was missing for the longest time when I was working on my own modules. I knew you could just export sections (Items/NPCs/etc) but did not know you could pick and choose just a single entry. Found that out from a different thread and now can do cleanup out of modules I have and want to just keep some small pieces.
