Discord and ambient/background audio...

I do have Voicemeter and audio cable installed. Also have VLC and Discord installed.

Sorry.... I meant voice over IP. So, discord is what I was looking for. I was wondering if you and your players use discord or something else. Given you are using discord, I think the easiest thing personally to pipe in music/desktop sounds is to use discord for your voice and then separately use discord for your sound. I've got a little time now if you want to chat briefly in my voice channel and I can walk your through setting up discord for your voice and separately for music if you haven't done that yet. Thanks again. It sounds like it won't be hassle-free and simple but I'll give it a shot. What timezone are you in? I am very shy* so it might take a while to build the courage to contact you :-)

Once you get it set up it is really hassle free for the players! They will just log into discord for voice and that's it. They will hear your desktop music through discord. Its a bit of setup but I promise, we can get it working! I am in the mountain timezone (Denver). I'm here this week until Friday morning and then am going on a family vacation Friday through the following Saturday (week of July 4th). I will have my computer then as well and can still help most likely if we don't connect before then.

Please don't let one experience define how you feel about playing online! Perhaps it was just the dynamics of that particular group. I've run several one-shots with brand new groups who don't know each other and it went great.

Before we talk, it would be helpful (but not absolutely necessary) for you to do the following:

If you already have the discord app downloaded and installed, I would download the public test build (ptb) app as well. This will be how we connect your computer music/sounds to discord. I've attached a screenshot to the discord website. Just click on the public test build text (its not a very obvious link). Once you click on the link, the download link on the page will change to the public test build link. Download and install the public test build. Note that you will need to log in with a different email address for this. So, if you used [email protected] (example), you could set one up in google as [email protected]. That is what I did. Use that new email to sign up for the discord PTB.

That's it! Once you have this done our setup should be pretty darn quick. If you want to wait to do the above until when we talk, that is fine as well. Whatever you are comfortable with. Just let me know. I'm happy to work something out timewise. I think once we get on it shouldn't take more than an hour and I'm actually hopeful based on what you've done so far it could be closer to a half hour. I'll follow your lead in terms of suggested times. I could do something around 9:00 pm MT (I think Denver is UTC -6 right now if I'm not mistaken, darn daylight savings confusion!).

I can usually make myself available between 6-10 pm MT to to help out. Just need a little notice to let the family know and I'm good!

All right, I went into the second Discord (I think I didn't really need an additional one as we use Roll20 for voice/video, but maybe the public test version of Discord has options I need that the other doesn't have?)
