    Upated the German LPaks for CoreRPG, 3.5E, 4E, 5E, Numenera, Fate Core to FG 3.2.2+.

    Added a new German LPak fir CnC and d20Modern.

    Hello! My name is David. I'm new to the FG community. I bought FG on steam a few days ago and I'm joining with my friends to buy some 5E modules, we always played D&D and we are currently trying out this version. We have met FG recently and are excited to begin our adventures.
    Meanwhile, I saw that there is no translation into Brazilian Portuguese. So I started to follow the steps of this project and started translating CoreRPG and 5E ruleset, but I already had my doubts:
    1st: in [Language] I write Brazilian_Portuguese? I mean, with the "_". The instructions are for the names of the rulesets but not for languages.
    2nd: My language uses special characters like ç, é, ô, ã. Can I use them or do I need to ignore them to work? For example, translation means "tradução", would I have to write "traducao"? Words like this for us Brazilians do not cause any difficulty in reading, the only case that hinders is: "and" means "e", while "is" means "é", that is a problem.
    3º: Is it possible to translate complete modules like official "PHB" and etc.? Because these things have already been translated into Portuguese in physical and digital copies, it would not be difficult to put this into FG.

    Hi davidx_3, and Welcome to the Community and to the LPak Project.

    Let's see if I can answer your questions:
    1. Yes, put "Brazilian_Portuguese" - this is the first time we've had a language name like this so its not surprising that you couldn't find an answer. I'll update the Framework to take this into account.
    2. Unfortunately, at the moment FG has trouble with Unicode characters, so special characters like the ones you mention may cause problems. You have two choices at this time: try and use them and see if they display correctly, or use the "Standard English" equivalents (which we know will work). There is a new version of FG in the pipeline (called FGU by most of us, for Fantasy Grounds Unity), which uses the Unity Game Engine and which is supposed to be able to use Unicode Characters, so in the future this shouldn't be an issue, but right now... Don't worry, FGU is still a way off so you haven't "lost" anything by using the current version
    3. No, the PHB is under strict copyright and so we don't have permission to do an LPak for it or any similar product. If you are really keen you approach SmiteWorks and ask them about it, but believe it or not at this point in time we're better off getting the Rulesets done first.


    I hope that answers things for you.

    Now, as a new member of our Community, if you and your friends haven't done so already, let me encourage you to take a look at some of the great Tutorial Videos available on the Fantasy Grounds Wiki (and on YouTube). Damn's are good, as are Xorn's, and people seem to like mine as well (mine are also available from the links in my sig, below).

    Start with the ones on the CoreRPG, because the CoreRPG forms the foundation of just about all the RPGs we play with Fantasy Grounds - so by learning how to use FG with the CoreRPG you'll learn about 80% of what you'll need to know to play any RPG with Fantasy Grounds. Once you've gone through the CoreRPG Videos you can then go on to Videos about your chosen RPG.

    When you get familiar with the basic Fantasy Grounds product the next step is to check out some of the Extensions (Plug-Ins) for FG, such as the DOE: Sound, DOE: Locations, DOE: Weather and DOE: Organisations Extensions (to name a but a few).

    And keep on asking questions - we're a pretty friendly lot here, and we love answering questions.
