    It's the thought that counts.
"I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind."

Amazing. I'm a bit ambivalent about these kind of situations actually. I mean, the initial YAY! and then BUMMER! It both fun and sad when it happens. On the top of my head I can not think of a gamesystem where this can not happen. D20 systems (D&D, PF and such) of course and the two other games I play, Hero system and Rolemaster also have that. For those of you who does not know Rolemaster you can get an AWESOME hit and actually deliver some major damage in hitpoints, but what matters, and is fun (and kills) is criticals. Getting the best kind of critical and rolling a 02 (on a D100) or such is really heartbreaking. I at one time tried to change Hero system (roll for hit then roll for damage like D20) so that the better you hit, the more damage you gave, compared to your min-max damage. We had to use a small program I made as the calculation was pretty complex. I actually think it worked well but introduced other difficulties with the system overall.
