Hi, sorry not to have been in touch-I found that the SSD editing works better on an ipad but I am going to have another go with FG2

Sorry for the thread necro. But has anyone continued on this? I have a friend that already wants to buy FG, and this would put him over the tipping point.

@Nylanfs - if you could provide me with a sample character sheet and the core mechanics of each element on character sheet - I will have a look at it... No promises...

Here's what I have been able to dig up.
https://www.starfleetgames.com/starfleetbattles.shtml
https://starfleetgames.com/sfb/sfin/CadetHandbook.pdf (Game Rules)
https://starfleetgames.com/sfb/sfin/CadetSSDs.pdf (Ship System Display)
The hardest parts I "think" are going to be the SSD's (every ship has a different layout), and the staggered movement/initiative order. Also the movement might have to be manually policed.Paul Grosse

And of course I stumble upon this program which does most of the simulation.

Although I agree that Star Fleet Battles Online is a nice program, it really does require an extensive knowledge of the rules. Also, it doesn't automate nearly enough.
However, to make an FG module to fully support SFB is a life-long proposition, it would take that long. The OP could go very minimalist with just a Power Allocation sheet and all the appropriate tokens, leaving everything else manual. Maybe automating the Damage Allocation as well.
